Part of the joy of returning to NYC – reconnecting and working with longtime friends such as the remarkably talented and colorful artist, Masae Satouchi.
Given 3-hours notice – Masae invited me to take some portraits – staged on the roof of a work-shack that sits on top of a 24-story building in Chelsea – with views of the Empire State Bldg; on the eve of Independence Day; during a Full Moon; and all while playing with Fire! … existing plans were cancelled instantly of course.
Also featured in the shoot – Fire Dance and Martial Arts expert, Erin Williams.
‘Sneak Peak’ highlights below – with the best images reserved for first viewing at an exhibition to be announced.
Kurt, these are STUNNING as always! Sydney is missing your eye! 🙂
Incredible! I love the first and third from the top most. Are these raw images? I’m dying to see more. Wish I could be closer to make it to your future exhibition(s) to get the full experience.
Thanks Katelyn, yes these are raw – shot in color and selectively desaturated with very minor tonal adjustments. Certain images from the batch will be displayed in color though – the first image applies slow-sync lighting so the sky appears as a vivid blue in color. 🙂 I’m sure you’ll make it to an exhibition some day.
Thanks Belle, not to worry – there’s a lot more reserved from Sydney. 😉
